More about me (for anyone crazy enough to be interested)     Name: Earl Barry; alias Duke; Dukey; Duke-of     From: Townsville and Brisbane; Queensland; Oz-trailya.     Age: Getting there... ... SHUTUP !!!     Living: Yes - barely - like Steve Austin. No seriously - as of Jan. 2005, living in Okinawa City on the main island of Okinawa, Japan. This is about 700 klm southish of the southern tip of the 'main' Japanese islands.     Working: Yes. I'm an English Teacher at Takahara Elem. School in Okinawa City... And thats the biggest Elem. School in Okinawa (~1400kids) buddy!! Ha!     Previously I was an English Instructor at 'Nova' - also in Okinawa city. Thats how I came to be here - just a fluke - sent here by Nova, I liked it, met the lovely Ayumi, got myself kind of hooked, and here I still am !     Before coming to Japan: I was a Land Resources Officer - thats a fancy name for 'dude who makes soil maps for the government'. So... I spent heaps of time in the Aussie bush and miscellaneous stinking swamps in SE Qld, making holes in the ground with big noisy machines, collecting dirt, making pretty maps and generally making a nuisance of myself for the local farmers/cattle cockys. Gotta say - life in Japan is just a little different now !!? Interests: My Families - obviously. x2 !! Japanese family of my partner Ayumi (her daughter Tao and also Popo the ball-crazy Polish Sheepdog) and my Oz family - the Barry's of Townsville, Brisbane and Sydney.        Nature: I find myself constantly amazed by awesome majesty of the world we live in, from the atom to an elephant to the milky way and beyond.  Nature IS the  creator.        Music: play guitar (a little); Bob Dylan (alot); Love Blues, Rock, Jazz, You name it.        Sports:   Regular lower back problems (herniated disc) preclude much in the way of tennis or volleyball. Beach swimming is now the fave, & the occasional golf game.        Travel: Anywhere and everywhere. Last major trip was to Thailand and Laos in 2005. Philosophy: Pantheism is my thing. ie. NATURE is God. If it's good enough for Einstein, it's good enough for me.
